The Town of Bloomfield is seeking Water Safety Instructors (non-benefited part-time seasonal) in the Leisure Services Department for the 9-week summer program of 2024. This position will provide water safety training to participants in the aquatics program.
Must be at least 17 years old and must possess an American Red Cross, Life Guard Training, CPR for the Professional rescuer, AED training or the ability to obtain this certification by the start of the season. American Red Cross Life Guard Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
The Human Resources Department will notify applicants by mail if he/she has been granted an interview. After receiving notification of interview, the applicant must contact the Human Resources Department Office at 860-769-3544 to schedule an interview. Interviews for summer positions will be scheduled during the last week of March and the first week of April. Candidates who cannot interview during the scheduled time should contact the HR. Dept. as soon as possible and an alternative time will be set up if feasible. Applicants will be notified of their employment status no later than May 31, 2024.
The success of the 9-week summer program depends on the staff's commitment, dedication and availability during the program. ALL staff must be available for the FULL SUMMER. Full week vacations will NOT BE PERMITTED. Two (2) consecutive days off will be granted with supervisor's authorization. Special consideration will be given to students who need to end their employment early to return for their Fall semester.The Leisure Services Department offers a course in Red Cross Community First Aid, CPR and FPR as part of the summer staff training. Successful applicants must attend and successfully pass training courses in order to be certified for work. The Department reserves the right to modify positions and salaries prior to employment and all positions are contingent on passage of the 2024/2025 Town budget.
